NBA Regular Season: Best 50 Teams in NBA History
This is the list with the top 50 NBA teams by winning percentage in the regular season.
Twenty three of the top 51 teams in the regular seasons turned out to be the NBA champions, among them 7 Celtics squads, 7 Lakers and 4 Bulls.
In 2016, Stephen Curry and his Warriors had the best regular season in NBA history, winning 73 games, one more than the 72 won by the 1996 Chicago Bulls led by Michael Jordan, but they couldn't win the championship and lost in the Finals against LeBron James and his Cavs. Tied with 69 victories are the 1997 Bulls and the 1972 Lakers of Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain. Those Lakers also had an NBA record 33-game winning streak. / Read more
Eclipsed by the Warriors, the 2015-16 Spurs also had a great season that left them in the 7th place here with 67 wins. Tied with the Spurs are the 2006-07 Mavericks but they also became the second number 1 seeded team to lose a best-of-seven first round series.
Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce won 66 games in 2007-08 with the Celtics before winning the Championship. The same did the 2013 Miami Heat led by Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol's 2009 Lakers have their place here with 65 victories.. / Show less
